Remote Workstation Assessment: Why is it Vital for Companies to Have it?

A remote workstation assessment is a vital part of the future strategy of any company as employees, on mass, opt for some form of working from home.

Recent research, conducted by Nyenrode Business University, has identified that 88% would prefer to use a 50-50 hybrid model moving forward, which would allow for home working for half of the week and then office-based for the rest.

With that in mind, HR departments should be pushing for remote workstation assessments to ensure a number of things remain optimal during this changeover. The benefits include:

- Reducing aches, pains and injuries associated with working from home that can lead to more complicated ailments further down the line if not confronted

- Limiting sick days and time off work as a result of working from home injuries

- Increasing productivity by optimising workstations at home

- Input from HCPC registered medical professionals

- Reinforcing your company’s support network for staff which will enhance staff relations.

What happens in a remote workstation assessment?

Before the one-to-one meeting with one of our physiotherapists, you will be asked to send pictures of your home working set-up from various angles. The physio will then analyse these images and prepare suitable guidance and advice for the video call.

The video call will allow the staff member to discuss, with an expert, ways in which they can improve their remote workstation and ensure they are given the optimal conditions for working away from the office.

Once the meeting is over, a detailed report will be submitted to the HR department of the company which will then allow for further steps and actions to be taken to continue improving the workstation of a remote worker.
