Weight Management Partnership Confirmed with Newcastle East Primary Care Network

Onhealth is delighted to announce the beginning of a second trial of weight management programmes being delivered in cooperation with the Newcastle East Primary Care Network (PCN).

After a hugely successful initial offering, the partnership will once again aim to confront the important societal health issue of obesity.

Particularly in the North East, obesity levels are high and lead to a number of additional health problems that provide added pressures on an already hard-working, over-stretched NHS service.

At an estimated cost of £6bn per year, health issues associated with obesity cause significant challenges to the NHS.

But Onhealth’s trial with the PCN is designed to confront this head-on and provide a multi-faceted weight management programme that delivers outstanding results, and most importantly, a lifestyle for clients that is both sustainable and long-lasting.

Utilising specialists across the medical profession – from physiotherapists to dietitians to psychologists – Onhealth transforms lifestyle behaviours to offer clients a healthier future.

Ian Scanlan, Head of Onhealth, said: “We have 4,000 experts, ranging from GPs and oncologists to whatever speciality you need.

“Before Covid we started to look at what we could do. And one of the first thoughts was how we could use our service to tackle what’s a huge problem – particularly in the North East, particularly in deprived areas – like obesity.

“The answer is never quick fads – you need to help start changes that work for someone on a long-term basis.”
