Veganuary 2022 is upon us once more and, for some, they’ll be looking for reasons to keep it going beyond January, when the awareness campaign comes to an end.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (more commonly known as PETA) has come up with a list of reasons to go vegan permanently after giving it a go at the start of 2022, including helping animals, eating more healthily, and helping to feed the World’s population:
Make a tangible difference
According to weareveganuary’s Instagram, the two million past participants of Veganuary have made a big difference to the environment. The equivalent to 2.4 million flights from London to Paris, a total of 207,680 tonnes of CO2, were saved as a consequence, with 12.4 million litres of water saved and 6.7 million animals spared from a lifetime of suffering.

Find your natural energy
Avoiding fad crash diets, becoming vegan ensures plenty of fruit and vegetable intake, avoiding unhealthier foods like dairy, while providing a sustainable way forward. This will lead to weightloss and ensure the weight is kept off, as opposed to losing weight quickly as part of a crash diet, which can lead to weight gain once it is brought to an end.
Being vegan also makes it less likely you’ll develop heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and high blood pressure in comparison to meat-eaters, as a vegan diet avoids cholesterol and animal fat which can clog arteries.

Help feed the World
PETA’s article highlights the amount of crops it takes, and water, to raise farmed animals. It takes up to 13 pounds of grain for each pound of animal flesh. If that amount was freed up, then it could go to other humans, ensuring less of the World goes hungry.
Need more convincing?
There are a range of documentaries which may alter your thinking on the subject of veganism. ‘The Game Changers’, ‘Cowspiracy’ and ‘What the Health’ are all on Netflix and based on the theme of veganism and why it would be good to make the switch after trialling Veganuary 2022.
