Going Alcohol-Free: Mix it up This Dry January 2022!

Going alcohol-free doesn’t mean you need to give up entirely those brands that you know and love.

An increasingly popular and valuable market to drinks producers is the non-alcoholic version of their products, ideal for Dry January 2022 participants navigating the first month of the New Year.

There are plenty of drinks to choose from, with the ‘low-to-no’ sector exploding in popularity.

Katy Askew, Senior Editor of FoodNavigator, said of the trend; “Dynamic growth seen in low-to-no can be linked to the leaps and bounds made in improving the drinking experience…improved depth of flavour, aroma and mouthfeel have been essential in drawing consumers into the category.”

We’ve selected just a few which may surprise you:

Nosecco

Nosecco has popped up on fridge shelves across a range of supermarkets. Often there’s an occasion that warrants a glass of bubbly, but you don’t need to break your Dry January. Instead, go for the Nosecco version of prosecco and get a taste close to the real thing, but minus the vast majority of the all-important alcohol content.

Non-alcoholic gin

Winner of a Great Taste Award, Bax Botanics comes recommended by Cosmopolitan for its fragrant taste with Mediterranean herbs and berries playing a part. They also highlight Cedar’s Pink Rose gin if you are looking for something a little different without substituting on the taste.

Alcohol-free pear cider

A rather famous premium cider producer has a 0% version that tastes similar and looks identical, perfect if you are wanting to feel part of a social engagement that has alcohol present. Fresh and fruity, you can enjoy a bottle of Kopparberg without the alcoholic content.

Non-alcoholic beers

There’s a range of alcohol-free lagers on the market, with all the big producers providing alternative offerings. San Miguel, Heineken and Becks offer good versions of their alcoholic staples and are well worth a try.

Throw in a range of mocktails, which we’ll feature later in the month, and the alternative options are endless. Stay strong on your Dry January journey; you’ve got this!
