World Mental Health Day Aims to Raise Awareness

On Sunday, 10th October, World Mental Health Day aims to raise awareness of the importance of reaching out when you are struggling.

Research shows that every week, one in six adults experience a common mental health problem like anxiety or depression and one in five has considered taking their own life.

We, as a company, are very aware of our position within the mental health arena; jobs play a big role in our employee’s lives and we need to ensure it is not an overwhelming factor.

One of our mental health first aiders, Kelven Oxberry, said; “World Mental Health Day aims to raise awareness in the global community around mental health issues. As one of the Winn Group Mental Health First Aid contacts, I, too, would like to raise awareness within our workplace.

“Taking the first step and speaking to someone is an achievement, speaking openly, and is the first step to recovery.

“If you feel your mental health is suffering, know you are not alone, help is available, and my door is always open.”

There are a number of organisations who offer mental health support should you wish to reach out. Click here to be taken to a useful list of contacts.
